Dr Charles Butcher
Dr Butcher is the consultant cardiologist and heart rhythm specialist at the Advanced Cardiac Clinic.
He currently also works as the lead for arrhythmia services at Dorset County Hospital. He performs device implantations including pace makers, internal cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices and ablations.
After graduating from the Royal Free and University College London Medical school Dr Butcher was awarded a PhD at Imperial College London for his thesis which focussed on optimising cardiac resynchronisation therapy pacemakers for patients with heart failure.
His work has been presented at national and international conferences and subsequently published in well respected journals. He completed his general cardiology training and electrophysiology fellowship at various prestigious London teaching hospitals including Harefield Hospital, St Bartholomew's Hospital and Great Ormond Street hospital, before taking up his current post.
Dr Butcher specialises in rhythm disorders and performs a range of treatments, including:
- Catheter ablation
- Pacemaker & ICD implantation (including SICD)
- Cardiac resynchronisation therapy
